Jriver linux6/23/2023 ![]() Great job on the Linux port here, I was expecting a lot more work to get the program to run. For those that want to tinker, can use another OS. With a barebones Linux installation and a web browser, you have a functioning JRiver media player with Panel. Or just 'Jriver OS' I would gladly pay for a lot of the work involved with Linux to be already complete. I don't need any functionality on the machine other than media playback. I installed VLC player, which then installed a number of dependencies for video codecs.Īfter the VLC install and a reboot, JRiver plays all video without problems.Īlso, as a side note: Panel worked in Firefox immediately for music, video, and images. Trizen automatically pulled many dependencies during the JRiver install, but not enough to play video codecs. This allowed me to install JRiver using the command:Īt first, video didn't work. I installed Trizen package manager to access the Arch User Repository, AUR. The biggest problem I had was tracking down a driver for my legacy graphics card, but once I identified the right package everything worked with the XFCE and MATE GUI's. I built the OS from a USB boot stick using these helpful Youtube tutorials. Platform Availability: Windows, Linux, macOS Price: Free Trial for 30 days, One-time purchase of 59. I'm new to Arch Linux, and fairly novice at Linux in general. So considering all the points, if you want a local media center to manage your library then Jriver can be a decent replacement to Kodi. Audio, soundcards, fonts, everything seems to just work. JRiver installed without a hitch, and everything works so far. I just installed Arch Linux on an old MSI laptop from 2009.
